WHAT TO EXPECT:  after you have reserved your private charter.

Once you and your guests board the vessel we will explain to you the burial at sea process and then get underway.  Once we reach the desired location we will slow down to clutch or idle speed and put the bow of the vessel into the current / wind to keep her steady.  Family and friends then gather at the stern for a service as desired by your faith.  This is a time to share stories of your loved one.  To offer prayers and reflect.
After the service the ashes are placed into the sea.  They are often poured from the receptacle provided to you by the funeral home.  Some folks arrange for the ashes to be in a biodegradable container and then that is placed into the sea.  Once the ashes are in the sea flowers or rose petals are also usually placed in the water.  We then ring the ships bell 8 times to signify the passing and change of watch.  As we head back to port we circle back around the flowers for final reflection.   Please call us if you have any questions about your burial at sea.  732-337-9292
You can reserve your two-hour burial at sea charter HERE.   Charters with more than 6 passengers can also be arranged with one of our cooperating vessels.
